Skin
Tag Removal
When skin tags first appear
on our skins, this is the best time to treat them
and even though such treatments may not be an
actual skin tags cure, we can certainly get rid
of them. We cannot say for sure that when the
skin tags disappear that they will not perhaps
return in the same area or grow in a completely
different area at some time in the future. Skin
tag removal is often sought after for people looking
to remove these bits of skin for cosmetic purposes.
Skin tags are not related to acne
or stretch
marks.
Skin tags are a common
condition and these growths of skin appear on
various parts of the body such as the eyelids,
nose, cheek, neck, armpits, upper chest and the
groin – usually where the skin is looser
and more relaxed. The good news is that skin tags
are not cancerous and they are also not a symptom
of some larger underlying medical condition (except
in the case of anal skin tags) so completely healthy
people develop skin tags too. More women (including
pregnant women) than men get skin tags and these
skin tags increase in both men and women with
age, diabetes and obesity. People will always
be looking for skin
tag removal treatments because they feel embarrassed
about the look of them particularly when they
are very visible and also because they can be
a source of irritation when they catch on clothing,
jewellery and other items or get in the way of
shaving.
So what are the
different options for choosing a skin tags treatment
or cure?
If you are not sure about
whether they are skin tags or not or you need
advice on the different options available, make
an appointment to see your doctor or a dermatologist
so that they can diagnose and advise on removing
skin tags or finding treatments. Sometimes you
might have another skin condition which might
need different treatment and such conditions could
include moles, warts and general skin damage from
the sun or chemicals. In such cases, skin tag
removal would not be suitable.
Skin tags can differ in appearance from person
to person – in some they are brown colored,
fleshy in appearance and smooth while in others
the skin tags might be irregular in shape and
look a lot more pigmented. They can vary in size
from between 1 mm to 5 cms. The important thing
is to notice what they look like when they first
appear because this is when they look the same
on everyone - small soft bumps that seem to hang
from the skin. Also there is no pain and you can
easily twist them. This is the stage when you
should chose to remove a skin tag or treat it
to suit you as this is the easiest time to effect
a skin tags cure. Natural skin tag cures can also
be used instead.
What are the different
treatments or for skin tags?
- Liquid nitrogen is used
to “freeze off” skin tags in a procedure
known as cryotherapy. The doctor submerges the
tips of special forceps in liquid nitrogen and
clamps the skin tag for about 15 seconds to freeze
it. The skin tag will fall off after about a week.
One skin tag treatment is usually sufficient for
small skin tags but larges ones may have to be
frozen several times over the course of a few
weeks. This is another reason why cures for skin
tags should be carried out as early as possible.
Some people may prefer to have a local anesthetic
to dull any pain. This is a good method for removing
genital skin tags as well as those skin tags on
the eyelids.
- Electrocautery is when the tag is cut off and
then the skin is electrically burned to close
the wound. The procedure is suitable for removing
larger skin tags because it staunches bleeding
afterwards and accelerates the healing process.
A local anesthetic is obviously used in this instance.
Dressings are then applied to the wounds which
will need to be kept clean and covered until healed.
For obvious reasons, this method is not suitable
for genital skin tag removal.
- Legation is where thread is wrapped around the
base of the skin tag cutting off the blood supply.
This method results in the eventual shedding of
the tag with minimal pain and damage to the skin.
With all of the above methods,
there is the chance of some scarring so it is
a good idea to use a scar-prevention product afterwards.
Natural removal
for skin tags
There are two great advantages
for using natural cures for skin tags and they
are firstly that you can treat your skin tags
in the privacy of your own home and secondly that
there will be no pain or scarring. A good natural
cure for skin tags made from pure essential oils
will heal the symptoms of skin tags within just
2 to 6 weeks by drawing the skin tags out from
the root upwards. So natural cures for skin tags
can provide a gentle and successful alternative
when looking for natural skin tag removal treatments.
There is no need
to look older than you just because you have skin
tags. Unfortunately, they come with age but as
you it can see it is possible to eliminate them.
