HPV Treatment
Genital warts are caused by a group of viruses called HPV which is short for human papilloma virus. There are more than 100 types of HPV, of which at least 30 types cause genital warts, and if you are suffering from these genital warts then you will be looking for an HPV treatment so that you can get rid of them. Although there is no cure for HPV, there are plenty of ways to treat HPV and the genital warts this virus causes. HPV infections are common in teens and young adults. As many as 1 in 2 people can have them. The more sexual partners someone has, the more likely it is that they will get an HPV infection and will be looking for a human papilloma virus treatment.
As we have said, there is no cure that will get rid of the HPV virus completely. But there are HPV treatments that can reduce the number of genital warts or help them to go away faster. When the warts disappear, the HPV virus is still there, though it may not spread as easily. If you are having sex, think you may have genital warts, or if you have had a sexual partner who may have genital warts, you need to visit your doctor or clinic. If the genital warts are not obviously visible, your doctor can detect the presence of HPV in females through a Pap smear test while a physical examination of males will be necessary.
Your doctor, if he gives a positive diagnosis of HPV, will provide or advise on human papilloma virus treatment. Depending on where the warts are located, how big they are, and how many there are, your doctor can treat them in several different ways. Sometimes such HPV treatment will require some time and patience before success is achieved. Because HPV lives in the skin, warts can come back and it may even be necessary to try more than one HPV treatment to get the desired result.
HPV treatment at home
Your doctor can prescribe two different HPV treatments which you can carry out yourself at home. One is Imiquimod which induces the body to boost your immune system so that you can fight the virus while Podofilox, which is a lotion or gel, is applied twice daily for 3 consecutive days for up to 4 weeks. This latter product helps stop the growth of the wart cells.
You can also order a natural healing product on line which is made from pure essential oils and is a successful human papilloma virus treatment for genital warts. The big plus with this HPV treatment is that there is no skin irritation and no scarring. The formula works by applying topically to the affected area; it draws the warts out of the skin when they flake away.
Time and patience is needed with all these HPV treatments at home.
Your doctor can also give you HPV treatment for your genital warts by:
Applying liquid nitrogen which freezes the genital warts. It may be necessary to re-apply the HPV treatment on subsequent visits.
Applying special chemicals such as Podocon-25, Podofin or Tri-Chlor that dissolve the warts. These treatments will have to be repeated weekly until the warts are gone.
The LEEP method where the doctor passes a sharp instrument shaped like a loop underneath the wart, cutting it out of the skin.
CO2 laser surgery which is useful for larger warts or those in difficult to reach places.
Interferon injections into the warts which helps the immune system to fight the virus which is causing the wart. These injections are usually done twice a week for up to 8 weeks or until the warts have gone.
Not all bumps on a person’s genitalia are HPV genital warts. They can be pimples or even other types of infections or growths so it is best to get a professional diagnosis so you know what you are up against. Remember that just about everyone who is diagnosed with HPV genital warts will become upset and worried. This is perfectly understandable. The important thing is to undergo HPV treatment as soon as possible.
And don’t forget that part of your HPV treatment is to improve your lifestyle so that you become a healthier person with a stronger immune system. You can do this by eating a healthy, nutritious and balanced diet, by exercising regularly, by ensuring you get sufficient rest and sleep, by avoiding stress, by cutting back on alcohol and by giving up smoking altogether.
