Preparation H Hemorrhoids
Hemorrhoids are common and in the United States, some 50% of adults will suffer from them at some stage in their lives. This is why Preparation H Hemorrhoids is so well known and has been around for the whole of most people’s lifetimes. Preparation H started off as a sunburn oil in 1935 when it was acquired by American Home Products or AHP and they quickly transformed this sunburn oil into Preparation H which went on to become one of the world’s best selling and best known hemorrhoid treatments. Hemorrhoids and Preparation H has used different slogans over the years in their advertising campaigns. In the 1960s the slogan was “Effective even in cases of long standing”. The current slogan is “I shoulda Used Preparation H”. This has become a registered trademark.
Although hemorrhoids and Preparation H have over the years been thought synonymous, Preparation H has often been used for other uses other than hemorrhoids. Some people use Preparation H as part of tattoo aftercare as it is claimed that the same properties that help soothe the anal area, can help calm the skin after a freshly implanted tattoo. There is no supporting evidence for this. It is also suggested that the Preparation H also reduces the amount of bleeding by narrowing the blood vessels that supply the surface of the skin while helping to prevent the formation of scar tissue when the tattoo heals. However, some medical experts have come out saying that Preparation H should not be used on tattoos.
Another use for the Preparation H has been very recently reported. Males have been spreading the product over the body to give themselves a more muscular look. The cream reportedly removes excess water from under the skin and causes the blood vessels to shrink giving the temporary appearance of a more toned body. It would be hoped that this is just a very temporary fad or fashion.
